| To: Imperial Command From: Lieutenant Commander Rushii Subject: Captured J'rathi Vessel - Tested Capabilities Date: 10/07/2004 As instructed, Flight Lieutenant Janmes and myself tested the systems and capabilities of the J'rathi vessel recently captured and used in the infiltration of the J'rathi worldship. The alien vessel seemed to show little of the standardization found in Imperial fleet shifts, making repairs to such individualized vessels inefficient. Scans during our departure from J'rathi space confirmed the variants were still ships of the same class. It is possible this non-standard construction extends to some of the finer points in speed and handling, though the Flight Lieutenant and myself are unqualified to confirm such conjectures, it seems important to log as a disclaimer. Handling of the ship is very smooth and exceeds Imperial standards for a ship of its mass category, especially in areas of decelleration. Accelleration is sluggish, making the ship feel overly cautious, but its maximum speed is a respectable 7850 hm/s, with hyperdrive capabilities. Sensors also exceed Imperial standards for range and accuracy. Many of the systems appear to have been optimized to fit in decreased space, allowing the J'rathi ship to devote more cubic meters to living quarters and other sundry non-military purposes. Armament consists of five turbolasers and three mid-strength pulse canons. They utilize similar technology to the Dreadnaught pulse canons used extensively in the early encounters with J'rathi, but significantly lower power. Shields are unremarkable. A sample of the hull material was sent for analysis, rather than potentially damage the Emperor's prize, and the results of those reports will be sent to you directly. The primary defense of this ship comes from the cloaking device. While this does preclude use of weaponry, the J'rathi apparently have a means of communicating with their own cloaked vessels. |
